Each novel that is read in class will also have an online discussion. This is a forum for continued discussion and friendly debate on the topics that the novels bring up.
While reading the novels a minimum of 5 posts a week will be required. Each week will count for 25 points, 5 points per post. A week of posts begins on the Monday of school and will be counted through Midnight Sunday before the next week.
For Example:
Week 1 begins Monday March 1st. It ends Sunday the 7th at Midnight.
Posts should be in standard English (no text speech, chat speech, abbreviations etc)
Posts should be a minimum of 100 words. Here is a word counter to help you gauge how close you are to 100 words.
A post counts as a thoughtful question or comment that inspires discussion amongst the students.
It may include quotes from the book (make sure you give page numbers) and links to websites or articles that you found to be helpful in analyzing your answers or supporting your statements.
What NOT to do as a post
A. "Heyyyyyyyy, like WTH is up w/ the main dude in this book? IDK what to think about him. you?"
Why not? This post has 'chat speak' in it and does not pose a thoughtful question. It could be stronger by including specific examples of characteristics of the main character that are confusing.
